NORMA

Tucked into the charming village of Kingham, the cottages at The Wild Rabbit feel like a little piece of heaven. The kind of place you hope exists, but rarely does.

There’s no check-in desk, no greeting that tries too hard. Just keys in hand via a lockbox, and the quiet feeling of entering a space that is meant just for you... clearly created by someone with very good taste. The welcome greeting reveals itself in the details: the fridge stocked with fresh juices, bread, butter, jam, milk, and eggs; the fireplace already roaring when we opened the door. And then there was the Daylesford Organic Farm gift box, which made me squeal! If you’re unfamiliar with Daylesford, it’s time you become acquainted!

Inside, the cottage is everything you want a countryside holiday to be. A gorgeous kitchen with a classic English AGA stove, three beautiful bedrooms, three full bathrooms, and generous living and dining spaces. It was perfect for the three of us who so desperately needed to do a whole lot of nothing.

Some of the cottages sit around the pub, yet they feel entirely their own. Private and calm. Stone walls, soft plaster tones, oak floors. Everything is simple in the best way. Crisp linens, proper pillows, warm throws, and lighting that understands evenings.

This is not a place for rushing. Mornings are slow by choice. Coffee tastes better sipped in your warm, cozy bed, windows cracked open just enough to let in the sharp, rejuvenating air and the soft sounds of village life. You could explore the surrounding villages, but it’s just as tempting to do very little at all. Stoke the fire. Read. Nap. Refill your cup. We chose a bit of village wandering and a lot of relaxing.

Someone here understands that luxury can be quiet. That good design is about comfort. Everything works. Everything feels considered. Nothing is shouting.
